In my day job at WhichCar.com.au, we don't cover the awards handed out by other organisations, but personally I can't resist.
Today, the World Car of the Year Awards judging panel have announced their finalists in each category. Check 'em out below. And if you're interested, I've linked to each model's landing page on WhichCar.com.au for more details.

- World Car of the Year: BYD Seal, Kia EV9, Volvo EX30
- Luxury: BMW 5/i5, Merc E-Class & EQE SUV
- Performance: BMW M2 & XM, Hyundai Ioniq 5 N
- Electric: BMW i5, Kia EV9, Volvo EX30
- Urban: BYD Dolphin, Lexus LBX, Volvo EX30
- Design: Ford Bronco, Ferrari Purosangue, Toyota Prius
Of those cars, I've actually driven embarrassingly few, although I'm well versed on each.
In fact, the Kia EV9 and Hyundai Ioniq 5 are the only ones I can attest to – and I've only driven the regular 5, not the 5 N. I've sat in the i5, at least!
I'm a fan of just about all of them, though, and especially the EV9 – which I came incredibly close to awarding a 9/10 in my Australian launch review.
The links above will show that the WhichCar and Wheels Magazine team dig them too.
